Guided Tour: The Markets of Trajan
The so-called “Markets of Trajan” are one of the best preserved monumental complexes of ancient Rome in the area of the Imperial Fora. Also famous for hosting the Museum of the Imperial Fora, the complex was formerly intended primarily for administrative activities and, though only in limited fashion, for commercial use. The buildings that host them - mainly built under the reign of Trajan (1st to 2nd century BC) - are connected by a road that later took the name of Via Biberatica.
You’ll discover the internal halls and external aspects of the building (the Great and the Small Semicircles) - a thrilling journey into the heart of history, exploring the ancient buildings and large civil engineering works, which often assumed an important role in the daily life of the ancient Romans.
